Green Services
With the emphasis on environmental safety and protection, how is the pest control industry following "green" guidelines?
A few years ago the pest control industry was issued a challenge to become part of the "green industry" and become practitioners of sound environmental stewardship. The pest control industry continues to work hard to rise to this challenge and has become a leader in green technology and practices. Examples include the move to minimum risk products, using these chemicals predominately outside living and working spaces (where pests originate). Other practices include the use of plant-based botanical oils that repel pests with minimum risk products, in addition to the use of baits, traps, pheromone attractants, and other non-chemical control measures. Pest exclusion methods have been incorporated including sealing holes, caulking cracks in doors and windows, and eliminating pest entry areas in homes and buildings.
These practices are all important components of an overall Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. In many states, yearly, required continuing education for pest control technicians and managers emphasize these environmentally-sensitive control and elimination methods. Our Sentricon® System with Always Active™ technology. is the first pest control product to receive the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award.
