Local Dog Wins Contest

Daisy is enjoying her prize basket of Hartz pet products and awaits her national exposure in the December 2003 issue of Ladies Home Journal.  This will bring recognition to Daisy and mention her hometown of Ringgold, GA.

Daisy’s grannie, Evelyn Helms of Ringgold encouraged the formerly homeless mixed breed dog to enter the "Hartz pet Pointers Contest" when she saw the announcement in the magazine.  Daisy’s parent/owners Marilyn Helms and Lee Tubbs entered the winning pet care tip.

“Lee and I schedule everything in our Palm Pilot electronic calendars and we even note Daisy’s monthly heartworm pills, vitamins, dental cleanings, and health checkups.  We thought this tip could benefit many other busy pet owners,” Said Marilyn Helms, Professor of Management and Endowed Chair holder at Dalton State College.

Daisy’s Grandfather, Tommy Helms shot the winning photo of Daisy at the computer.  The winning tip resulting in the First Prize for Daisy was:   An organized dog, Daisy schedules her once-a-month flea and tick drops, yearly vet appointments, and even when to replace her flea collars using her owner's computer and PDA.  Repeating this schedule for the future, keeps her healthy and her owner carefree.

“We forgot all about the contest until the FedEx package from Ladies Home Journal arrived,” remarked Lee Tubbs, Owner of EnviroGuard/Daisy Pest Control in Ringgold.  The December issue of the magazine appears on newsstands on November 11, 2003.
